LOUISVILLE, Ky. — It’s touted as a first of its kind program in Kentucky. Goodwill’s Excel Center gives adults ages 18-64 a second chance at earning their high school diploma.

The Goodwill Excel Center is a tuition free high school for adults in Kentuckiana offering free childcare, small class sizes, college and career pathways, and life coach support. Recently, Kroger gifted $46,000 to the Excel Center that will be used to provide healthy snacks for kids in the daycare program. GDL reporter Elle Bottom has the story.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A one-of-a-kind school in Kentucky opened a few months ago that’s giving adults a second chance at getting a high school diploma.

Louisville Business First explored visions for educational organizations, how they are working to meet employers needs and how they are improving access to education across populations. Participating were: Dr. Travis Haire, chancellor of Ivy Tech Community College in Sellersburg, and Dr. Marsha Berry, interim director of The Excel Center at Goodwill Industries of Kentucky.

Goodwill Industries of Kentucky has announced that Dr. Marsha Berry is the interim director of The Excel Center®, Kentucky’s first tuition-free high school for adults. Berry will lead a team of teachers and career coaches to help adults who dropped out of high school earn a state-sanctioned diploma.

Today, Goodwill Industries of Kentucky announced plans to open a one-of-a-kind tuition-free, public high school for adults in the fall of 2022.


Yesterday, we held a press conference to announce plans to establish a one-of-a-kind, tuition-free high school for adults in Louisville, known as The Excel Center.

The Excel Center® is operated by Goodwill Education Initiatives, Inc., a not-for-profit organization formed by Goodwill of Central and Southern Indiana.
